Implant-Supported Prosthesis
The removable prosthesis on dental implants is a permanent solution to tooth loss. The removable prosthesis attaches to dental implants that have been permanently installed in the mouth.
Consequences of edentulism:
- sagging jaw and face
- thinned lips
- wrinkles around the mouth and neck
Advantages of removable prosthesis
The main advantage of dental implants is that they prevent regression of the alveolar jaw bone. After becoming edentulous, it is very important to replace lost teeth.
Benefits :
- Durable, stable and comfortable
- Can be removed for cleaning
- Optimizes chewing
- Preserves bone mass
The procedure
First, 2 to 4 implants are installed in the jawbone. The bone is then allowed to attach to the implant (osseointegration), a process which lasts a few months.
After 2 to 4 months, the dentist attaches attachment posts to the implants. The attachment abutments allow the dental prosthesis to be securely anchored when it is placed in the mouth.
